Six Keys to Making the Most of Change

We've heard it said that the only constant is change, and that certainly seems to be true, especially this time of year. Now and then, though, life may present changes that are more significant than usual. Whether we are seeking those changes, or they happen unexpectedly, these experiences are disruptive. We may welcome that disruption, or we may dread it, but either way it offers us an opportunity.

Disruption creates a context of ambiguity and uncertainty, which is uncomfortable for most humans. For better or worse, however, these are optimal conditions for producing breakthroughs in our growth and understanding. If we are willing to mine these experiences for the gifts they offer, we are likely to find it worth the effort.

Last week, I had the opportunity to accompany a friend to attend a preview of a new documentary, "Escape Fire". The film has already won a number of awards and is purported to be for the American Healthcare Crisis issue what "An Inconvenient Truth" was for Climate Change. Since healthcare transformation is a passion of mine, I was very eager to see it! The film was a provocative attempt at creating new thinking about a critical problem, and I recommend it for anyone interested in this topic.
