Three Essentials for the Intentional Traveler

Three Essentials for the Intentional Traveler

The first week of a brand new year is wrapping up.

For many of us, memories of holidays are still fresh. Perhaps we took time to reflect on our lives and whether or not our actions and results are congruent with our priorities. Transitions — whether they are to a new year, a new phase of life, new job or career, or a new relationship — are powerful times to take stock and determine whether or not a course correction is in order.

Why Wait? Reasons for Delaying Your Best Life (Part 3)

Why Wait? Reasons for Delaying Your Best Life (Part 3)

Over the last couple of weeks I've been sharing about the very human problem of delaying desired or necessary actions and decisions, some of the reasons that contribute to these delays, and strategies for breaking through the inertia.

So far, I've talked about waiting for permission, and waiting for perfection. Now I'd like to share about another common reason — waiting for protection. Protection from what? — you may ask. You may be waiting for protection if you are feeling fearful about taking full responsibility for your choices. You may want protection from a fear of judgement (from yourself or others) of making the "wrong" choice, a fear of failure, or a fear of having to be accountable for the actions that your choice may entail.

Why Wait? Reasons for Delaying Your Best Life (Part 2)

Why Wait? Reasons for Delaying Your Best Life (Part 2)

Last week, I shared about a dilemma that many of us face. That is — in spite of knowing what we want, we delay the decisions or actions that will help move us toward our desired outcome. This post continues a series of reflections about reasons that we delay action, and how we can get "unstuck".

If you didn't see last week's post about waiting for permission, I invite you to check it out. This week I'm focusing on a reason that I personally know very well — waiting for perfection. This is going out especially to all the other recovering perfectionists out there. You know who you are!

Why Wait? Reasons for Delaying Your Best Life (Part 1)

Why Wait? Reasons for Delaying Your Best Life (Part 1)

At one time or another, most of us have had to deal with a feeling of being stuck. We have a sense that "this isn't it", but we may or may not know what we want or how to move towards it.

Let's face it. Even if we know what we want, and we know how to get it, we often still don't do what we need to do to reach our goals!

Ready...Set...Change!

Ready...Set...Change!

It's a glorious day here in my neck of the woods. The summer is on its way out, and the mornings are becoming crisp. The kids are back in school and in a few days, autumn will officially be here. The changing seasons are one of the things I love about living in North Carolina. Each season is unique, and the transitions from one to another always bring a sense of anticipation for the upcoming time of year right alongside a yearning for the waning season and all the gifts it brought. Every change is like this, it seems – both a beginning and an end.

What do you DO?

What do you DO?

I was in a meeting the other day with a group of other women business owners when one of them admitted to me: "Julie, I STILL don't know what it is that you DO!"

After ten months of meeting together, perhaps I should have felt embarrassed... Instead, I appreciated her honesty, and felt grateful for the opportunity to provide clarity. It left me thinking, though -- Perhaps you wonder the same thing! What is coaching anyway? More importantly, why would anyone want to be coached?
